Hi, I am Yoli! I am the Social Justice and Critical Pedagogy Research Librarian, and the librarian for Sociology, Anthropology, Urban Studies, Public Policy and Law, International Studies, and Human Rights. If you need help with your research or projects, or library instruction for your students, please feel free to make an appointment, stop by, or email me. I am happy to help!
As a research librarian, I work to integrate critical pedagogy and social justice principles into library instruction, research consultations, scholarly communication practices, library collections, and more. My ultimate goal is to foster inclusive and equitable learning environments.
Before becoming a librarian, I taught college-level sociology courses for 15 years. My primary areas of expertise include all things sociology, critical criminology and penology, race and ethnic relations, urban ethnography, critical theory, Black feminisms, social inequalities, Afrofuturism, Blues history and geographies, open education, and qualitative research.
