Search for standards
Please note that accessing standards can be a difficult process. Many organizations emphasize corporate customers over academic institutions, so we are not able to easily license access to collections of standards or codes. After using the resources below, if you are not able to gain access to a needed standard, you have a few options:
- Contact Jeremy to verify we do not have access to the needed document. If not available, he most likely will recommend alternatives:
- Try to interlibrary loan the standard (try to get from another institution)
- Request the library purchase the standard for your use (must be able to purchase in print at a reasonable cost)

I-Codes - International CodesFree, but read only (cannot print or download). Includes codes such as the International Building Code, International Energy Conservation Code, and International Green Construction Code.

Standards related to COVID-19 (compiled by MIT Libraries)Some organizations made standards freely available that relate to medical devices, ventilators, and PPE needed during the pandemic. You may have to register to access these standards and the organizations may choose to discontinue free access at a later date.
