Introduction

I'm Rob. I'm the Social Sciences Librarian. This means I collaborate with students and faculty at all stages of the research process. Students, we can talk about everything research-related, from developing a solid research question to citing sources. Faculty, I can help create assignments that incorporate research in meaningful and engaging ways. My approach to teaching and research borrows heavily from the critical pedagogy theory of Freire, hooks, etc.

I also have a background in popular culture (especially comix, zines, hip hop, and punk rock), subcultures, and critical race theory. Additionally, I am trained in quantitative and qualitative research design.

Why meet with a research librarian?

Are you doing research for any of your courses? Let's work on

  • refining your research question
  • establishing what the best information sources are for your research
  • identifying effective search terms
  • learning what various search tools can do, and how they work
  • exploring different kinds of information and if they benefit your research
  • tracking how your research questions change through the course of research
  • getting access to specific materials you had trouble locating
  • understanding your rights and responsibilities regarding your use and creation of knowledge
