Antiracism Reading List: Take Action

About

As protests around the country against racism and police violence continue, following the murders of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Breonna Taylor in Kentucky, and so many other Black Americans, demand for books about race and anti-racism has increased exponentially.  Out of a desire to support the movement to dismantle white supremacist institutions and to end racism and in solidarity the Black Lives Matter movement, we have curated a collection of anti-racism materials for the Trinity College community.  This reading list takes a broader view of what counts as "text" and, thus, includes books, videos, podcasts, and music. While reading in itself is not anti-racism, it is an important step in developing the critical consciousness needed to, in the words of Audre Lorde, "transform silence, into language, into action" (Sister Outsider). Recognizing that anti-racism is a verb, we have included a list ways to take action to help dismantle systemic racism. In addition to the materials listed here. Are we missing a title from this list? Complete the feedback form at the end of this virtual collection to recommend additional resources.
