Human Rights Watch Beginning in 1978 as the independent non-profit Helsinki Watch, it eventually merged with other Watch groups (Africa, Asia, etc.) in 1988 and became the global Human Rights Watch. A Daily Report is published on their web site in addition to more exstensive and investigative reports which are also available online.
Amnesty International Begun in 1961 by Peter Berenson, a British lawyer, with an appeal for justice for two Portuguese students imprisoned for toasting liberty, today Amnesty International has a global membership totaling over 150,000. Find articles and country reports on their website.
