The purpose of this guide is to introduce students to a variety of information resources to better understand how campaign financing influences policymaking. The resources included herein focus on non-scholarly content, highlighting sources that are more accessible for undergraduate students who are beginning their foray into academic research. Included are sources for finding newspaper articles, government information, campaign financing/spending data, research from policy institutes, and public opinion data.

Excellent Staring Points

These two sources are a great starting point. They provide an introduction to the history, themes, people, legislation, etc. related to a significant moment in campaign finance. They will help shape your focus. Use the information you find in these sources to develop search terms and strategies to use with the resources in the sections below.
