ECON-431 Fiscal Policy in the US

Chronicling America provides access to information about historic newspapers and select digitized newspaper pages from around the United States from 1770-1963. It is produced by the National Digital Newspaper Program in partnership between the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Library of Congress.

Includes thousands of titles from all 50 states chronicling the evolution of American culture and society through eyewitness reporting, editorials, letters, advertisements, obituaries, and much more. The core of America’s Historical Newspapers is Early American Newspapers, 1690-1922—the most extensive resource of its kind for exploring the American past. Coverage varies by title.

Archive of the Washington Post. Coverage: 1877-2008.

Features more than 170 wide-ranging periodicals by and about African Americans. Published in 26 states, the publications include academic and political journals, commercial magazines, institutional newsletters, organizations bulletins, annual reports and other genres.

Collection of Historic Black newspapers including Atlanta Daily World, Baltimore Afro-American, Chicago Defender, Cleveland Call and Post, Los Angeles Sentinel, Louisville Defender, Michigan Chronicle, New York Amsterdam News, Norfolk Journal and Guide, Philadelphia Tribune, Pittsburgh Courier. Covers from 1893-2010 time period, but individual newspaper coverage dates vary.

Try searching for "income tax" AND amendment. Limit dates to 1895-1915. You can limit results to various types of legal or congressional documents.
