Library resources in Educational Studies are used to explore "the literature": scholarly articles and books, statistical data (historical and contemporary), research reports produced by government agencies (national, state, and local), and non-profit institutions (e.g. The Pew Foundation).
Pre - Research
Research is often unwieldy. Begin your research in an unfamiliar topic by learning about the background of your subject. Specialized encyclopedias, like the ones below, will identify the current issues, state of the research and historical context of your topic. They will also identify keywords that can be used in your database searches. Finally, the attached bibliographies identify important research on your topic and the identify of scholars who specialize in your topic. Search their names in the databases to locate more recent research.
